Presidents Welcome
Massachusetts High School Football Coaches,
I hope this message finds you in good health, high spirits and ready for an exciting year for High School football in Massachusetts. As the President of Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association, I write to you today to express my gratitude and appreciation for the exceptional leadership that has been bestowed upon me by those who served as President before me in our esteemed association.
Under the guidance and unwavering commitment to excellence, our association has achieved remarkable milestones and consistently upheld its mission of fostering the growth and development of high school football coaches across the state. Having attended monthly meetings for the past 7 years, I have personally witnessed this unyielding dedication to the betterment of the football coaching profession. It is truly commendable.
Throughout the existence of MHSFCA we have demonstrated a remarkable ability to bring together coaches from various backgrounds and experiences, creating a collaborative and supportive community. The clinics, seminars, and training sessions organized under our leadership have been instrumental in enhancing our coaching skills, promoting best practices, and staying updated with the latest trends in attempts to keep the game of football safe and better for all.
The association’s tireless efforts in advocating for the well-being and safety of our student-athletes have not gone unnoticed. Their strong emphasis on character development, sportsmanship, and ethical coaching has left a lasting impact on the lives of countless young individuals. By instilling discipline, perseverance, and integrity in our coaching practices, they have not only shaped successful football programs but also helped mold responsible and well-rounded individuals.
I also want to acknowledge the instrumental role in strengthening our association's relationships with other high school athletic organizations, local sports authorities, and educational institutions as well as statewide media outlets. The MHSFCA utilizes a collaborative approach and effective communication skills that have fostered a spirit of cooperation, leading to productive partnerships that benefit our coaches, players, and the entire football community.
As we reflect on the remarkable progress that our association has made, my vision for the 23-24 academic year is to continue to inspire and motivate coaches to strive for excellence which has transformed our association into a beacon of knowledge, professionalism, and sportsmanship. Each year the executive committee establishes communication throughout the summer and prepares to support the MIAA football committee to present a fair and equitable playoff tournament to the TMC. In addition to the playoff modification proposal, one of our initiatives will be to continue to expand communication with coaches across the commonwealth. As our game continues to be under scrutiny, there are still a number of schools dropping football or forming co-op teams. One of our main objectives is to maintain a unified voice as the most powerful way to represent the MHSFCA. We have had members of the executive committee travel to Central Ma this past spring for the 2nd straight year to inform, gather input and share ideas. We plan to continue meeting
with all areas including a trip West for a regional meeting this coming year.
In addition to these goals for the year, the MHSFCA provides plenty of opportunities to our membership and the players in this state. Our annual initiatives include: the Divisional & Super 26 All-State Teams, annual Coaches Clinic, the Gold Athletics Scholarship and our Annual Awards Banquet. We will continue to present the Hall of Fame for Head Coaches, The Paul Costello Courageous Player, Assistant Coach of the Year, Media Awards, Youth Coaches Awards, and Distinguished Service Award. Unfortunately, our annual combine did not run this year, but we are hoping to bring it back in a different format. As my predecessor and past presidents have stated many times, “There is plenty of opportunity for coaches to get involved and be more of an active part of the association.” I encourage you to come to our monthly meetings which are held on the second Wednesday of each month at Xaverian High School. Additionally, visit the website, pay your dues, and be informed on all upcoming events, and updates. We as an executive board are open to new ideas and need more active coaches on the board representing all parts of the state. The success of the Divisional All-State Teams of 2021 and 2022 is proof we are evolving and looking to do more.
On behalf of the entire Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association and the coaching fraternity, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your commitment, leadership and dedication to our game. Our unwavering commitment to the growth of our association across the entire state and the betterment of high school football coaching is truly inspiring. I am immensely proud to be a part of this esteemed association, and we look forward to continuing to serve, guide and support in the 2023-24 Academic year.
In closing I would like to once again, thank you for your outstanding service and commitment to our association and allowing me to represent the MHSFCA. May your future endeavors be filled with success and fulfillment as we will work to live up to the motto of our association “The MHSFCA is dedicated to serving the needs of Massachusetts High School Football.” Best of the luck this season.
Yours sincerely,
