National Football Foundation (Eastern MA) Scholar Athlete
Coaches Clinic
March 11/12, 2022 - Same format as in previous years
Coach Driscoll wrote a letter to Coach Belichick and Josh McDaniel asking them to speak at the clinic still no response
Looking to reach out to Bill O’Brian current OC at Alabama
Don Brown is back at UMass anticipate his staff will be on hand to present
Seeking youth award nominations
Super 26 Team -
Independent schools are looking to nominate 5th year players due to them not playing last year due to COVID. Committee chose to wave the 5th year rule ruling and accept nominations
Herb Devine was nominated for the Boston Gridiron Coach of the Year
Set to meet and select the 2021 Super 26 Ryan Conway and Bob Bancroft agreed to help select the team along with Dave Driscoll and Tom Lopez
Banquet date is set for March 12
Hall of Fame:
Date is April 24, 2022 at the Doubletree in Westborough
Some modifications for presentations including acknowledgement of the Assistant Coach of the Year awards dating back to 2020 Coach Souza will read a quick Bio for each recipient and present the award; the coaches will not speak.
Seeking nominations for the Most Courageous Player of the Year
Honor Jim Keliher on his 300th win this past season, and Richard Davis,
Determined the cost of the ticket to be at $75 or keep it at $60. Looking to cover expenses which usually come up short.
Award presentations; Coach Driscoll will give the distinguished service award, Mike Redding will do distinguished service, Jim Pugh will present the Media award, Sandy Ruggles will present the lifetime achievement awards.
The hotel left the mask mandate up to the committee (as of December 2021)
Acquired a new printing program for this year's brochure

- 2021 Shriner’s shirts and were shipped to the players
- No date or Venue has been selected yet
- Still need a place to hold orientation
- Minutes will continue to be emailed to Steve Dembowski so he can send to the coaches across the state
- Dates for Nomination forms on the Website need to be updated
- Coach Flaherty is looking to update email list based on what Steve has
- Discussion over the playoff format and power rating system
- January 15th is the next football committee meeting with the MIAA
- Recommended to modify the point differential +/- to either 19 or 20
- Coach Flaherty proposed a survey posing the question “Do you want the playoffs to be before or after Thanksgiving? Advocating to make the Thanksgiving game relevant and dropping consolation games. Worried that the current format will destroy high School football. This proposal would bring an 8 team playoff format as opposed to a 16 team format.
