The MHSFCA Executive Board is preparing to present pre-season rules change recommendations to the MIAA Football Committee and would like your feedback. The concerns brought to our attention and the proposed modifications are summarized below. Please read and answer the survey questions.
PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO MIAA FOOTBALL PRESEASON, PRACTICE AND CONTACT GUIDELINES
AMENDMENT 1
Current guidelines: Day 1 and Day 2
Proposed guidelines: Day 1 and Day 2
Rational:
Coaches need to teach the correct and safe way to block and tackle to players. Many of our players are playing football for the first time. They need to know the correct and safe position for feet, hips, shoulders and heads. We beleive that the skills of blocking and tackling require contact with an object for the player to understand how to properly position his body. Rather than place the helmet on a player, we are asking to place the helmet on hand held pad that another player is holding. All pads must be hand held (no large dummies). All other restrictions remain in place.
