Dear Massachusetts High School Football Coaches,

I am truly honored and humbled to serve as this years' president of the Massachusetts  High School Football Coaches
Association.  This association of football coaches has grown in stature over the past 4 decades to be the most organized and
pro-active sport specific group in the state.  Welcome to another exciting year of Massachusetts schoolboy football.

The MHSFCA is proud to have a member of each league represented at our monthly meetings.  These representatives are
your voice for any recommendations or concerns that you may have that pertain to the betterment of Massachusetts high
school football.  These meetings are usually held on the second Thursday of each month.  These meetings are at Xaverian
Brothers High School in Westwood, MA.  The meetings are scheduled from 7PM to 8:30 PM.  Contact your league
representative if you would like to attend a meeting.  Our goal of our association is to get more coaches involved in our
activities.  The list of activities is great.  In January, the MHSFCA sponsors a coach's clinic at the Quincy Marriott.  This clinic
has grown to be one of the most popular and informative on the clinic circuit. In March, the Super 26 All-State Team is
recognized at a banquet.  Make sure that you submit player recommendations through your league representative in early
December.  Remember, if you don't make a recommendation, your worthy players may not be selected.  In April, the Hall of
Fame Banquet is held.  At this banquet, the Paul Costello Courageous Players are recognized.  Again, make sure that your
representative submits these nominations in early December.  In May, a combine is sponsored by  the MHSFCA at Xaverian
Brothers High School.  The cost is modest and your players will get as much exposure as many more expensive combine
offerings. This is an excellent opportunity for you to get involved with the activities of the association.  We always need coaches
to assist in the skill and testing portions of the combine.  It is also an opportunity for you to network with many College coaches.
In June, our best departing seniors participate in the Shrine Football Classic.  Remember make your nominations in early
December to give your players an opportunity to be selected.  Paul Costello is the Chairman of this event and through his
leadership; the association has been able to generously give to this very worthy organization.

In closing, the MHSFCA is devoted to serving the sport of football in Massachusetts.  Over the years, many important changes
have resulted from our activities.  Perhaps the most notable in the last decade has been the adoption of a post-season playoff
system.  This playoff system has served us well and has helped our sport to gain some post-season opportunities for football
playing athletes.  The association would like to see these playoff opportunities be expanded to include more football playing
athletes.  Presently, our sport allows only 17% of those playing this opportunity.  All other MIAA recognize
d sports allow 50% or
more participation in post-season tournaments.  This inequitable situation should be changed.  We need your help to lobby
your Principals and Directors' of Athletics to support this reasonable and fair change.

Sincerely,
Charlie Stevenson
